Not all Fish Oil Supplements are Equal

Certain fish contain omega-3 fatty acids. For those adults who are not fond of eating fish, there is still no getting around the substantial recommendations of almost every health agency that adults will benefit from omega-3 fatty acids as part of their diet. You can purchase fish oil supplements to make sure you get the recommended omega-3 fatty acids intake into your diet. You can find fish oil supplements at many venues including drug stores, independent and in-store pharmacies. No all supplements, however, are alike. Just like vitamins, they contain different amounts of omega-3 fatty acids.

You can check the label to see if the ingredients arise from the recommended fatty type fish like salmon and tuna. If the label says the supplements are from “fish oil” or have some other vague language like “marine life” you may not be obtaining the best ingredients or recommended level of omega-3. You can ask your doctor of pharmacist for recommendations if you are not sure how to compare fish oil supplements or which is best for you.
