How Fish Oil Benefits Every Cell of the Body
To say that fish oil benefits every cell of the body is not an exaggeration. Two of the causes of cellular aging are inflammation and free radical damage. The omega3 fatty acids in fish oils reduce inflammation and help prevent free radical damage. Of course, not all oils have the same degree of activity, particularly when it comes to anti-inflammatory activity.
It has been known for some time that increasing omega3 intake improves conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis and high cholesterol. Increasing daily intake may reduce the risk of heart disease, stroke and type II diabetes. Fish oil benefits the skin, the hair, the immune system, the eyes, the joints and the brain. But, why? That’s a question researchers have and still are struggling to answer. They would like to be able to identify which omega3 (there are 9) accounts for all of the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity. Most of the research indicates that DHA has the highest level of activity.
DHA is abundant in the brain and in the membranes surrounding the neurons. All Omega3’s are precursors to hormonal transmitters that carry signals from the body to the brain and back. Other dietary fats, such as omega6s, saturated and trans-fatty acids, contribute to the production of pro-inflammatory hormones, while the hormones the body produces from omega3s are far less inflammatory.
So, basically, fish oil supplementation has been recommended to balance the inflammatory activity that is going on in the body throughout a person’s life. But, recent evidence indicates that it is not just omega3 fatty acids that have anti-inflammatory activity.
For many years, supplement manufacturers have strived to provide oils that have a higher concentration of omega3s than is found in nature. Recent studies indicate that the fish oil benefits are not strictly due to the omega3s, because some natural oils have twice the anti-inflammatory activity of the concentrates. Obviously, this means that there is something else in the natural oils that researchers have yet to identify.
Xtend-life calls it the “X-factor” and that is the reason that there newest omega3 DHA contains 50% natural hoki fish oil. The hoki is a small fish that swims in the cleanest water and is therefore free of contaminants such as mercury, dioxins and PCBs.
The other 50% is a concentrated extract, so each capsule provides at least 500mg of omega3s. Basically, Xtend-life provides more fish oil benefits than any other brand at an affordable price.
